How to Send from Your Domain in Gmail (Free)

Once you've set up CCorp email forwarding and DNS, this guide walks you through configuring Gmail to send as you@yourdomain.com.

Time required: about 5 minutes. Prerequisite: CCorp free email account with DNS verified (setup guide here).

  1. 1

    Open Gmail Settings

In Gmail, click the gear icon in the top right → See all settings.

  2. 2

    Go to "Send mail as"

Click the Accounts and Import tab → find the "Send mail as" section → click Add another email address.

  3. 3

    Enter your domain address

Enter your name and your domain email address (e.g., hello@yourdomain.com).

Uncheck "Treat as alias" if you want Gmail to use this address only for manually selected replies, not automatically.

  4. 4

    Enter SMTP settings

On the next screen, enter these SMTP settings:

    SMTP server: smtp.ccorp.com
    Port: 587
    Encryption: TLS (STARTTLS)
Username: (from CCorp dashboard → SMTP Credentials)
Password: (from CCorp dashboard → SMTP Credentials)

Note: The SMTP username and password are not your CCorp login credentials — they are separate SMTP credentials shown in your dashboard under "SMTP Credentials."

  5. 5

    Confirm the verification code

Gmail will send a verification code to your domain address. Because you've set up forwarding, this email will arrive in your existing Gmail inbox. Enter the code in the Gmail dialog to confirm. That's it — you can now compose and send from your domain.

Troubleshooting

Gmail says "authentication failed"

Double-check your SMTP username and password from the CCorp dashboard. They are not your CCorp login credentials — look for the "SMTP Credentials" section.

I didn't receive the verification code

Check spam in your forwarded inbox. Also confirm that your MX record propagated — you can check with Google Admin Toolbox MX Lookup.

Can I use port 465 (SSL) instead?

Use port 587 with TLS (STARTTLS). SSL on 465 is an older standard; TLS on 587 is the current recommended approach and what Gmail's dialog defaults to.

Does this work in Outlook?

Yes. In Outlook, go to File → Add Account and add a new account with the SMTP settings above. See the full guide for other mail clients in the FAQ.
